BOOMTOWN TO RELEASE WE CAME AS ROMANS DEBUT ALBUM “TO PLANT A SEED” ON NOVEMBER 26TH

October 11, 2010

Boomtown Records is set to release the debut album by US metalcore powerhouse, We Came As Romans. Titled “To Plant A Seed”, the album has already sold over 40,000 copies in the USA in a short time. The release will coincide with the band’s maiden Australian trip, as part of the massive No Sleep Till touring festival. They are currently preparing for a month long European tour with Australian heroes Parkway Drive, who are also part of the No Sleep Till lineup.

We Came As Romans are a force to be reckoned with. Having mastered the art of self promotion and self booking early on, the band has since garnered a colossal fan base and kept themselves on the road, only stopping long enough to record. Tireless and tour-hungry, We Came As Romans are pushing the envelope. Working with producer Joey Sturgis (The Devil Wears Prada, Emarosa, Attack Attack!) To Plant A Seed is laden with intricate guitar riffs, both moshtastic and melodic breakdowns, and commanding screaming from vocalist David Stephens tempered with co-vocalist Kyle Pavone’s adept singing voice. Just as important as the musical content, the message behind the music is something the band holds dear.

“To Plant A Seed embodies a really strong message we’ve always held as a band and that’s the simple fact to just love other people and to love in general,” explains Joshua Moore, guitarist and key lyricist of the band. “Hopefully this album will plant a seed, or idea, of love into people’s minds. The whole concept is that hopefully the practice of loving other people will only grow.”

Boomtown Records will release “To Plant A Seed” on November 26th in Australia. Pre-Orders with a T-shirt package will be available via JB Hifi Online, Fist2Face and Kill the Music starting October 12th.

Philadelphia Grand Jury: ‘Save Our Town’

August 27, 2010

By the time Philadelphia Grand Jury come back to Australia in November for the ‘Save Our Town’ tour they will have spent the 6 months prior to that doing the following: living and recording in London; setting up a studio; they will have crossed the USA no less than 3 times; played over 50 dates in the UK; toured South Africa; and even ducked back to Australia to play the main stage at Splendour in the Grass.

Now the Philly Jays are set to release their newly recorded single ‘Save our Town’. The track will be side A on a limited edition seven inch vinyl release, which will also feature as a B side the newly recorded version of a live crowd favourite – the punk cover version of Jay-Z’s ’99 Problems’.

Currently in the middle of a 35 date UK tour, the band recorded the two tracks as part of a larger recording campaign, which will see tracks released through other projects later in the year, as well as new material that will form the basis of a second album. The tracks were produced in their own studio called Safety Second - which the band set up themselves in Bermondsey (South London) - by lead singer/guitarist Berkfinger (who has also worked on records for Sarah Blasko, Art vs Science, Wolfmother, Temper Trap). They will also appear as one part of a much larger bonus package of tracks on the ‘Hope Is For The Hopeless’ LP - which is a two disc deluxe edition of the band’s debut album ‘Hope Is For Hopers’.

‘Hope Is For Hopers’, released in September 2009, was nominated for the Triple J Album Of The Year Award, peaked in the top 40 and was Triple J feature album. Pretty good for a self-recorded self-released album made for a budget of less than $3,000, throughout relatives’ basements and lounge rooms all over the country and finished it whilst on the road. It spawned underground hit singles ‘Going To The Casino’, ‘The Good News’, ‘Ready To Roll’, and crossover party anthem ‘I Don’t Want To Party (Party)’.

The re-packaged deluxe edition ‘Hope Is For The Hopeless’ sees the ever-prolific Philadelphia Grand Jury giving as good as they get and taking bonus features to the extreme. The original ‘Hope Is For Hopers’ consisted of 12 tracks. ‘Hope Is For The Hopeless’ features the full LP, plus the two never heard before tracks, plus 8 other bonus tracks and B sides from previous seven inch singles. This makes it a 21 track album. And it also includes a special live DVD featuring the band playing in true ‘on the level’ punk style at a Brisbane house party, as well as a fold-out poster.

Philadelphia Grand Jury hit the road for 26 dates of the ‘Save Our Town’ tour starting November 4th for their biggest tour to date. They bring with them young punk upstarts Howl, as well as uber-pleasant indie kids Bearhug, who have just come off supports with Broken Social Scene.

In case you have not seen them play live, Philadelphia Grand Jury are literally explosive on stage. Their only secret is to write great songs and play them like it’s their last show ever. Every. Single. Time.

Don’t miss out!!
