About
ABOUT BOOMTOWN…
Boomtown Records is a completely independent record label based in Melbourne, Australia. We aren’t limited to any one style of genre of music, but we’d be lying if we said we didn’t tilt towards all that encompasses Alternative Rock’n’Roll. We started in 2002, and have been partying ever since. As well as our local label, we release international records we enjoy via Blueprint Music, and have an imprint label called Sidekick Music which concentrates on the more eccentric tastes we couldn’t place.
We are part of The Staple Group, which includes Destroy All Lines, Staple Management & Marketing and a bunch of other cool dudes and dudettes. To find out more about The Staple Group check out the website - www.staple.com.au.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where can we buy your releases?
Well thanks to fine people at Shock Records, you should be able to get any Boomtown Records CD in almost every store and webstore in Australia and New Zealand. Alternatively, you can buy them all on iTunes and much of it on Bigpond Music. But if you wanna pay bottom dollar and get a few stickers chucked in with your order check out our WEBSTORE.
Can my band tour with one of your bands?
We are a record label, not a touring agency. We do share an office with Destroy All Lines booking agency, but they only book a few of our bands. Check their pages for full booking details.
Where can we send our demo? Will you listen to it?
Preferably, don’t send us a CD or a press pack. Email the info[at]boomtown address with a myspace link and tell us the best song for us to listen to. When we get time, we will head over there and have a look around. That way we can see what you’ve got coming up, have a listen, see what people think, and do it all at our own leisure. Plus it saves paper and plastic this way.
We listen to most stuff, but we don’t always reply. One place to start when trying to get us to listen, is to triple check the name of your band, and the image you are trying to project. Terrible band names and overly contrived promo photos are more likely to shared around the office for their comedic value than for their quality.
Now that we’ve sent our demo, where do we sign?
To be honest, we’ve received literally thousands of demos over the years, and only one band has ever been signed purely from a demo. They are called A Year to Remember, and we’d all heard the name anyway. Every other band we work with, we’re making a name for themselves with great live shows, being good dudes and building themselves without a label. We aren’t stupid, and we go out a LOT – we know the bands that work hard and make good noise. So your best bet is to get out there and chances are we’ll notice you.
Can I do work experience at Boomtown Records? How can I get a real job at Boomtown Records?
In the past, we haven’t had the time to do work experience at Boomtown Records. But we are now occasionally taking on people who seem passionate about the music we make and how we function. If you think that you fit that criteria, feel free to email a full resume complete with musical tastes why you want to do work experience with us to info[at]boomtownrecords.com.au and we will get back to you if a week comes up.
As for paid jobs at Boomtown. We will do a shout for potential hirings when something comes up. Usually doing some work experience is a good way for us to get to know your attitude and potential.
Where can I join your street team?
First up: you rule. Secondly, Staple runs our street team. Basically, they create new teams for all of our releases and send you stickers, flyers and banners to promote our stuff with. And you’ll get access to competitions, news and the occasional live show as our thanks to you. Sign up here.
